Northcliffe Media has dominated today's EDF Energy South West Media Awards, winning 11 out of the 20 honours on offer.

The Citizen was named Daily Newspaper of the Year, with the Western Gazette taking the Weekly (paid-for) award. The Gazette's Nicholas Webster was also named Newcomer of the Year.

Northcliffe also received the two flagship Journalist of the Year honours, with Ginette Davies of the West Briton and Tristan Nichols of The Herald winning Weekly and Daily respectively.

Western Morning News colleagues Becky Sheaves and Janet King were named Columnist and Feature Writer of the Year.

Hand Off Our Hospital from The Cornishman won Community Campaign of the Year, while Suzanne Savill of the Bristol Evening Post took the Environmental Journalist honour.

David Lewins of Bristol News & Media was named Designer of the Year and Gloucestershire Media's Nick Purewal Sports Journalist of the Year.

Other winners at the Bath ceremony included BBC Radio Cornwall, ITV West Country and the Midweek Herald.
