Wincott Award for Dan Hyde
Friday 25 May 2012
A&N Media's Dan Hyde has been honoured at Britain's most prestigious financial awards, the Wincott Awards.
Dan was named Young Financial Journalist of the Year at the Mansion House ceremony in the City of London, for his work on This is Money. The judges praised the savings and pensions correspondent, aged 25, for the 'down-to-earth, approachable ease of his writing and his grasp of detail'. They were also impressed by the 'maturity of his take on pensions' and for his ability to connect with issues 'that affect readers sometimes two or three times his age'.
Previous winners of the category include the BBC's Robert Peston and Stephanie Flanders, as well as Shadow Chancellor Ed Balls, Economist editor John Micklethwait and Robert Chote, who now heads up the Office of Budget Responsibility.
"It's only right and proper that Dan's ability and achievements have been recognised, especially by what is the most coveted awards in British financial journalism," This is Money editor Andrew Oxlade said. "He has an incredible future ahead of him. After more than two years with This is Money, Dan moved to our sister title Money Mail earlier this year, so readers will still get to enjoy his work on this website." Dan is also on Twitter@pensionsdan.
This is Money's traffic recently hit a monthly peak of 2.71m unique users , while daily traffic has been as high as 276,000 readers during the dramatic financial events of recent weeks.
